Senior Full Stack/Vue.JS Developer

Our client is a forward-thinking, modern web design and development agency based in Swindon, Wiltshire.

Following an increase in projects and clients they are now looking to add a Lead Full Stack Developer to their growing team. You’ll join a friendly team of development, creative and strategic experts, to work on a range of diverse web projects – bringing your extensive web development experience to a wide variety of web development tasks.

How can you help?

As a Senior Full Stack Developer you will work closely with the agency’s Managing Director as well as the wider web development and design teams. Your day-to-day role will involve developing complex and interactive websites and web applications while maintaining existing sites across various platforms, including WordPress, VueJS, OctoberCMS and Laravel.

You will input your extensive knowledge into discussions around architecture and technical design and take ownership of projects where required to see them through to completion. This could involve dealing directly with clients to provide a solution for their problem.

What you will need:

You will require strong skills in HTML, CSS and JavaScript and have experience in working with Content Management Systems. We would like you to have some knowledge of at least one modern frontend JavaScript framework (Vue.js, React.js, Angular, Svelte). The agency’s current tech stack relies heavily on Vue.js and WordPress so expertise here will be highly valued.
We would like you to have at least 3 years of professional software development experience and be knowledgeable about software best practices such as KISS, DRY, SOLID You will know how to write performant code which will be readable, documented and testable. The web development industry is incredibly fast-moving and ever-changing so you should have a real desire to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and developments.
You will ideally have some understanding of how to implement unit testing, integration testing and continuous integration, and previous experience in working with RESTful APIs and working alongside backend developers is necessary to be successful in this role.
Exposure to both relational (MySQL), NoSQL databases (MongoDB), and MySQL variants such as MariaDB or Amazon RDS would also be advantageous, and it would be a bonus if you had some exposure to working with server-side technologies and/or DevOps technologies, for instance Docker, Git Workflows
A vital area of this role will be to help manage and improve security procedures in future and existing web applications. As such, you will have a good understanding of security implications that may apply through CI/CD implementations and web applications and have some exposure to TDD
You will know what it takes to deliver commercial and client-centric technical solutions and be comfortable dealing directly with clients – either by email, in-person, via project management tools or on the phone. Any experience working in an Agile/Scrum project management environment is a bonus.
